Happy Boxing Day! (Or any excuse for a feast.)

its that time of year and we’ve been receiving many requests about whether we will be open on Christmas Day for lunch. well, at last the awesome truth can be revealed – we are not open. We are cooking a special lunch menu for our guests on  Boxing Day.

because of the way it is structured, we can only accommodate tables of 4 adults or more. also, lunch comes at a bit of a premium – if you don’t want to wash your own dishes on Boxing Day, you need to reward someone who will.

at R425 per person, excluding drinks mentioned here, this is what lunch will look like on those two festive days:


 egg paté and trout roe canapés

a glass of MCC

(or rose geranium cordial)


fresh water crayfish with a dill hollandaise

bread and farm butter

Main Course

rare roast fillet with horseradish cream

onion tarte tatin with Dalewood’s fabulous Huguenot cheese

heirloom baby carrots with a honey mustard dressing

crunchy mange touts

a salad of fresh greens


meringue roulade with fresh berries

Camilla’s Kissimussi Cake

a glass of Overgaauw Port
